Management Team

Barry Wolfenson
Board of Directors
Chief Strategic Advisor

Barry was the architect of Derma Sciences’ advanced wound care division, responsible for licensing/developing all that division’s products, and for leading the build-out and management of the sales/marketing/clinical infrastructure. From 2007 through 2016 this division grew from roughly $2M in annual sales to over $50M. Derma Sciences was subsequently acquired by Integra Life Sciences for $204M. Barry’s goal is to help introduce novel, clinically meaningful and cost-effective medical technologies into various markets to help improve the quality of life of patients while driving excessive costs out of the system. He has a BS in Economics from Franklin & Marshall College and an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

Paul Hayre
President
Chair, Board of Directors

Paul cropped.png

Paul is a transformational leader and board director, currently focused on early-to-growth stage medical devices (wound care, pain mgt) and novel healthcare delivery models (urgent home health). Prior to healthcare, he founded/grew businesses focused on solar, specialty chemicals, and corporate food solutions. Prior, he advised CxOs as a strategist and technologist for over a decade. His expertise spans global strategy, M&A/integration, long term value creation, data/analytics, and executive development/succession in a wide range of sectors and stages. Paul launched Sano with Dr. Kerschensteiner after watching how his father's chronic pressure ulcer was treated day in and day out: simple dressing changes, never healing. That protocol is largely the standard of care in the US today. His goal is to give clinicians visibility into wound biochemistry to determine effective treatments. Personally, Paul is wildly passionate about investing in his communities and good causes, advising CEOs of start-ups and big cos alike. He has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Michigan, based on diagnostic enzyme cleavage of a synthetic chromophore-linked peptide. Dan is the recipient of four SBIR Phase I grants and contracts from the NIH and the DoD totaling $250,000. He holds multiple patents. He has a BS in Zoology and a Masters in Science Education from Syracuse University and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of New Hampshire.
