Barry was the architect of Derma Sciences’ advanced wound care division, responsible for licensing/developing all that division’s products, and for leading the build-out and management of the sales/marketing/clinical infrastructure. From 2007 through 2016 this division grew from roughly $2M in annual sales to over $50M. Derma Sciences was subsequently acquired by Integra Life Sciences for $204M. Barry’s goal is to help introduce novel, clinically meaningful and cost-effective medical technologies into various markets to help improve the quality of life of patients while driving excessive costs out of the system. He has a BS in Economics from Franklin & Marshall College and an MBA from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.

Paul Hayre, President

Paul is a serial entrepreneur. He founded Vmeals Boston, grew it 200% YOY in sales, and sold it to its largest competitor. He also is an intrapreneur, founding and managing cleantech divisions in publicly listed, multi-billion dollar US FORTUNE 500 (Avery Dennison) and multi-million Euro Finish (Cencorp) manufacturing companies. Paul launched Sano after watching how his father's chronic pressure ulcer was treated day in and day out: simple dressing changes, never healing. That protocol is largely the standard of care in the US today. His goal is to give clinicians visibility into wound biochemistry to determine effective treatments. He has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Dan Kerschensteiner, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer

Dan is a 35+ year researcher and inventor primarily in the areas of periodontal disease, oral malodor, dental caries, mold contamination, human and non-human (vet) wound diagnostics, and early arthritis detection. He developed the EPT3 home pregnancy test at Warner-Lambert and the BANA test for periodontitis with Dr. Walter Loesche/Univ. Michigan, based on diagnostic enzyme cleavage of a synthetic chromophore-linked peptide. Dan is the recipient of four SBIR Phase I grants and contracts from the NIH and the DoD totaling $250,000. He holds multiple patents. He has a BS in Zoology and a Masters in Science Education from Syracuse University and a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of New Hampshire.
